There have been changes to Artifacts leveling system that this guide will break down the information you need to know to make the process easier on yourself.

Nth Metal (Experience)

Nth Metal is the primary source of providing Experience to Artifacts. Nth Metal drops from all over the game from defeating enemies and collecting Collections. Below is a list of Nth Metals and other XP items found in Time Capsules (TC) that can be used to level up Artifacts. Some of these can also be found on the Broker using the Search Function.

The Sin Stones can be used as XP items for other Artifacts but when used on Artifacts labeled with “Tools of the Demon”, they give a 10% bonus.

The Sunstones can be used as XP items for other Artifacts but when used on Artifacts labeled with “Kryptonian”, they grant 10% increased Experience for every additional Sunstone, up to a Maximum of 40%.

Sourcewall Pro Tip:
Be sure to run your Vault every day, especially getting on at least once a week. The Augmented Nth Metal (3000XP) drops in the vault one time a week. Vaults net up to 500 XP every day.

Catalysts

Catalysts are sold by John Constantine and cost Source Marks in order to purchase them. There are 3 Catalyst versions you need in order to go through the Breakthrough process: Dionesium (Dio) (7x Source Marks), Quantum Field Energy (QFE) (10x Source Marks), Paradox Energy (PE) (15x Source Marks).

The amount of Catalysts and the Source Marks required for each Rank is listed below. They are split corresponding to the Ranks that give the special Buffs per each Artifact and the totals are listed:

Seals

There are two types of Seals, Seal of Preservation (SoP) and Seal of Completion (SoC). Seals are only sold on the in-game Marketplace. There are times that an Unstable Seal of Completion (USoC) gift is granted. The unstable variant of the item is one per account but it is Account Bound so you can send it to an Alt via the Shared Bank. It has a 7 day Expiration so be sure to collect the reward on Sundays for the most time possible.

Seals of Preservation protect Catalysts from a Failed Breakthrough. If the Breakthrough does fail, the SoP is used and your Catalysts are not to allow you another chance of breaking through. If the Breakthrough is a success the Catalysts are used

Seals of Completion are a guaranteed 100% success with any breakthrough. During the Breakthrough, both the SoC and the Catalysts are consumed.

Nth Metal Cache

Nth Metal Caches are obtained from using Nth Metal Detectors. The Detectors are bought from the Marketplace for 50 DBC/MP for Legendary Subscribers and 45 DBC/MP for Premium and Free to Play Players.

The Detector will last for an Hour and within that time you’ll want to be steadily defeating enemies. You can get 5-6 Caches within the time limit. These Caches will drop on their own or together with other regular Nth Metal Drops.

The Caches when opened will Vary in what will be rewarded but you’ll always be rewarded a Purified Nth Metal (500 XP).

Artifact Ranks

This is the breakdown below on the Experience and Catalysts needed for each Rank. Seals are an option on the player to use but after Rank 80 its recommend to use them to save time and effort.

Artifact to Artifact

Another way to level an Artifact is to use another Artifact. If you find yourself not going to use an existing Artifact anymore, you can use it as Artifact XP.

When using another Artifact as XP to level another Artifact, the experience on the Artifact will be reduced by 50%. In the example, there is 750,000 XP on the Artifact but when used as XP, it’ll be 375,000 XP.
